Description
KIMONO REBORN is a cultural and sustainable awareness project that upcycles beautiful and neglected vintage kimono for use by turning them into modern fashion items.

Design notes
: The design is mainly composed of the traditional Japanese patterns called ‘Segaiha’ (青海波), which means blue ocean waves. ‘Segaiha’ forms the duplicated curve lines in a fan shape. This motif symbolizes the power and flow of life and was often used for Samurai’s kimonos during Edo period (1603-1867). The rectangle motifs are filled with flowers and “Kikko Hanabishi” pattern which depicts a flower in tortoiseshell design. The whole design image expresses beautiful water streams with unique rectangular accents.
