KIMONO REBORN is a cultural and sustainable awareness project that upcycles beautiful and neglected vintage kimono for use by turning them into modern fashion items.

Design notes: Please look at the purple motif by enlarging photos of this page. The connected six diamonds motif is known as ‘Asanoha’ (麻の葉) in Japanese, which means a hemp leaf. In the past, hemp fiber has been used as a fabric material in Japan. Since it is a durable and speedy growing plant, the hemp motif has been often used for baby clothes in the past, hoping they would be in good health and strongly grow.
