KIMONO REBORN is a cultural and sustainable awareness project that upcycles beautiful and neglected vintage kimono for use by turning them into modern fashion items.

Design notes: Maple leaf or ‘Kaede’ (楓), is a symbol of autumn in Japan just like how cherry blossom represents spring. The mountains in autumn are covered with orange and red colors – it is the art of nature that has been appreciated by the Japanese. On this jacket, there are orange and green maples that resemble the change of season. Putting those warm color motifs on the blue background, color contrasting creates modern taste. If you carefully look at the fabric, you may also find thin white lines forming a flower shape – Isn’t it a really unique design?
